That lowered the number down from 102C full load to about 76C full load. I'd love to get 5 GHz, but is that possible on air? My CPU was too hot running with the stock with Turbo Boost enabled and was reaching 102C and that's when I bought the CM Hyper 212 EVO. Bear in mind, this is with using the default voltage. Ran some stress tests, seem fine and then I' played SWTOR for a few hours. First, I believe I'm stable running at 4.6 GHz. So right now I'm using Intel's Extreme Tuning Utility to get things going and set and then when I've got a stable OC, then I can just input the settings into the UEFI. I was fortunate and I'm overly careful, maybe too careful. The CPU's seem more resilient now, but back in the early 2000's, ppl were breaking cores mounting their HSF's. The main stuff I need help with is the voltage settings. I'm familiar with O/Cing, I just need a refresher. My 4970k was running up to 102C at full load using the stock HSF. So I just got the CM Hyper 212 EVO along with the Samsung 850 EVO. OK, a little irrelevant history and if you don't care, then just skip to the next paragraph. ![]() MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Gaming 8G 850 EVO 250GB This is my current config.ģ2GB DDR3 1600 G.Skill Ripjaws X Series RAM I stopped with the Q6600 and had 3 or 4 more CPUs since them. Hi, I've had this build.well the CPU, Mobo, and RAM for a little over a year, my GTX 1070 for about 7 months.
